I’ve been trying to get to bed a little earlier each night to read….and now that The Traitor’s has finished, that’s proving a little easier!!

I’ve LOVED reading since I was a young teenager. I love the escapism from the real world & how my imagination can attach to a fictional story, rather than ruminating on my to-do lists or worries. I’ve long reached for a book as a relaxation tool & break from my busy mind and research now supports that! Dr David Lewis’ research showed that even just 6 minutes of reading can reduce stress by up to 68% (that’s more than listening to music, drinking a cup of tea or walking!!). Reading lowers your heart rate, eases tension in your muscles & stimulates your imagination & creativity … which I’m not sure can always be said for scrolling the news or social media! Ek!

The first book I’ve finished in 2026 is Heart the Lover by Lily King. I was very relieved that, for me, it lived up to the hype. I truly gobbled it up!!

Another book that I am currently reading and finding is a beautiful portrayal of longing is; All My Mothers by Joanna Glen. I don’t want it to end!! This is the first book of her’s I’ve read and I can’t wait to read more.

Craft + Activism = Craftivism

Have you ever felt at a loss as to how to share your passion and raise awareness for certain causes? Sarah P Corbett, founder of Craftivist Collective, has made it her mission to share how engaging with crafts can spread the word & engage conversations around important topics such as climate change, a fair living wage, fast fashion (to name just a few) and make protesting accessible to everyone. With 1/3 to 1/2 of the worlds population identifying as introvert, Sarah is spreading the word about how there is a place for the quiet, gentle protest alongside the loud.

‘Craftivism’ is a word coined in 2003 by Betsy Greer as a ‘way of looking at life where voicing opinions through creativity makes your voice stronger, your compassion deeper and your quest for justice more infinite.”

I am just at the beginning of my craftivism journey but I’ll continue to share about it and I’d love to hear if you have ever heard of the term or tried craftivism yourself?
